Trappistes Rochefort 8

Trappistes Rochefort 8 pours an opaque mahogany brew with a chunky mocha-colored head. Complex aroma of raspberries, oak and dark fruits. Flavor is absolutely marvelous! It is simultaneously spicy, malty, fruity, bitter, and dry. Very vinous, some hints of citrus and blackberries, a bit of pepperiness and some yeast undertones. Finish is smooth and dry, completely enveloping my every tastebud.

A Cistercian monk, also called a Trappist, devotes himself entirely to God. He engages himself only to God en leads a monastic and contemplative life.
The name 'Trappist beer' is protected by law and can only be applied to beer brewed by trappist monks in their monastery. Among all Belgian beers only six are allowed to use the name of Trappist Beer.
Enjoy !!

Chimay White

Chimay White (Blanche), with its typical golden colour, its slightly hazy appearance and its fine head is especially characterised by its aroma which results from an agreeable combination of fresh hops and yeast. The beer's flavour, as sensed in the mouth, comes from the smell of hops: above all it is the fruity notes of muscat and raisins that give this beer a particularly attractive aroma. The aroma complements the touch of bitterness. There is no acidity, but an after-bitterness which melts in the mouth. This top fermented Trappist beer, refermented in the bottle, is not pasteurised.

Orval

This beer, exceptional for the quality and special nature of its taste, is one of the most popular Trappist beers in Belgium. An extraordinary brew, mainly because of the wonrderful water used from the spring inside the monastery, the high quality yeasts and the traditional brewing process.

La Trappe Tripel

About 20km from the Belgian frontier with Holland is the abbey Onze Lieve Vrouw van Koningshoeven in Berkel-Enschot (near Tilburg) situated. It is the only Trappist beer in the world that is not from Belgian origin. But to have all 6 authentic Trappists in the world in Hong Kong (the exception is West-Vleteren which cannot be sold) we loved to carry this one too. Not only because of this reason but surely since it is a delicious beer.
Nice amber-orange coloured brew with a complex aroma of banana, bubble gum to mention a few. Lots of citrus flavour are noticed refering to banans, orange and peach. The finish is flowery yeasty with hints of coriander, clove and other spices and slightly alcoholic. Very soft mouhtfeel, very smooth brew.

As with all other Trappist breweries, the brewery only exists in order to finance the monastery, not for profit or any other commercial reason.
